7 low carb hygge recipes

Hygge is a Danish lifestyle trend, pronounced as “hoo-gah”. Hygge is defined as a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being by embracing the simple things in life. And those Danes may know a little bit about contentment, as they are a considered some of the happiest people in the world according to global happiness surveys.

So, how do you hygge? Start by putting your electronics aside (although you might find plenty of hygge inspiration on your Instagram feed), grab your coziest throw blanket, snuggle up with your loved ones, light some candles and enjoy twinkling holiday lights and a toasty fireplace while sipping on mugs of warm, comforting drinks and enjoying spice-infused baked goods. It’s these simple moments that hopefully let the stress of the holiday season fall from your shoulders.

Atkins has plenty of low carb hygge-worthy recipes that will allow you to enjoy this opportunity to slow down and take care of yourself. You can start by sipping Hazelnut Hot Chocolate or Mulled Wine steeped with comforting spices like cloves and cinnamon. Next, try a few of these low carb baked good recipes, which will infuse your house with the comforting holiday smells of freshly baked pastries:

Earl Grey Tea & Chocolate Pots de Crème

Orange Poppy Seed Scones

Apple Muffins with Cinnamon Pecan Streusel

Chocolate Ginger Cake

Pumpkin Cake Roll

Hygge, the latest trend in chilling out, may seem like a challenge during this time of the year, but it’s definitely worth trying!
